Country Dance Events in the Northwest
What is a dance event and where can I find one to attend?
A dance event is usually an event that will hold workshops as well as evening dances. For purposes on this page, I will profile events usually in the Northwest.
February - Sweetheart Jamboree
February 12-14, 2010
Despite the name, this dance event is not just for couples. Singles will have fun at this laid-back event. The event starts on a Friday and continues on until Sunday. Workshops are held Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. There are dances Friday and Saturday night, with Saturday night having a dinner show. Three rooms to dance in: a country room, a swing room and a line dance room. On Sunday - they do a raffle for a quilt. This is done each year. In 2006, I was a proud winner of the quilt. Also, each year there is a different theme. Come and have fun with us!
This event will be held at the Bellvue Hilton, Bellevue, WA.

July - Portland Dance Festival
July 8 - 11, 2010 (tentative)
Portland Dance Festival will be celebrating their 24th year in 2010. It is held the second weekend in July. As the Northwest’s largest dance party, it’s sure to have something for everyone—the social dancer, the competitor, the beginner, the spectator, the workshop attendee and those who just like to have a good time with all their friends. Check out the local bars for competitions, where if you make the finals, you'll compete in the finals on Thursday night at the Kick-off prty for PDF. In 2009, a couple weeks before the event, Duke's held a line dance competition and Bushwhackers and Ponderosa Lounge held a couple's competition.
The event starts with a kick off dance party on Thursday night, followed by workshops Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There are dances Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. There are three rooms to dance in: a swing room, a country room, and a line dance room. Come have fun with us.
